Leading the pack is is the workaholic Akshay Kumar, who has half a dozen films lined up for the next 12 months, followed by Ajay Devgn with five. Interestingly, Aamir Khan, who doesn’t listen to a script till he’s free of his pending assignments, has two more films after his suspense thriller Talaash that is slated to release on November 30.

He will then complete Khiladi 786 which is also his co-production with Himesh Reshammiya and start working for Milan Luthria’s sequel to Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, followed by Ghajini director A Murugadoss’s second Hindi film. At a time when most actors are limiting themselves to a film or two annually, Akshay Kumar has half a dozen films lined up till the next year. Akki’s next 12 months are marked by jam-packed schedules for not only his shoots but also promotional activities.

Akshay, who’s currently shooting for Neeraj Pandey’s jewellery heist film Special Chabbis in Mumbai suburbs, has recently finalised the dates for A Murugadoss’s second Hindi venture after Ghajini. Interestingly, the South director is presently wrapping up the Vijay-Kajal Agarwal Tamil film, which he’s remaking with Akshay later this October, and completing by next February.

Good pairing It is learnt that Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan had evinced an interest in the Hindi remake of the director’s Tamil movie. “However, Murugadoss is making another film with Shah Rukh. Besides, he’s insistent that he’ll remake this film in Hindi only with Akshay and no one else,” says our source, adding that in all probability, Katrina Kaif will be signed on for the action romance that features Kumar in the role of an encounter specialist.

“Akshay and Katrina make a good pair and have delivered a good number of hits. And Tees Maar Khan registered very good collections in the opening three days,” points our source. Talking of the actor’s packed date diary, he’ll start shooting for his co-production with Himesh More >

THE WINNING TEAM: Jiah Khan, Sajid Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Lara Dutta, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Farah Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala

Sajid Nadiadwala’s latest film is making Bollywood smile again in 2010

MEENA IYER Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; May 7, 2010)

Let’s give the devil his due. In a business where box office is the only yardstick to measure fame and fortune, Sajid Nadiadwala is revered. His banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Eros International’s latest offering Housefull has opening weekend collections that are next only to Raju Hirani’s 3 Idiots and A R Murugadoss’s Ghajini.

Reacting to the title of Mr Blockbuster that the trade has bestowed on him, Sajid says, “I’m flattered and I feel blessed that my film has taken the best opening for a film released on a non-holiday. The initial my film took is in that sense unprecedented. Ghajini and 3 Idiots were both released on holidays (December 25).’’

Sajid, who has been in showbiz for 24 years now and whose banner has helmed some of the biggest box office hits ever, is of the opinion that if you put your money where your mouth is (in his case, in rip-roaring comedies), then success is bound to follow. On his slate are Jeet (Sunny Deol) and Judwaa (Salman Khan), both films that came with an interval of four months and went on to have golden jubilee runs.
