TMK Day 1: 13.5 cr; Day 2: 13.75 cr

TEES MAAR KHAN embarked on a fantabulous start in India, fetching approx. Rs. 13.5 cr nett on its opening day [Friday]. The circuit-wise breakup is as follows:-
Mumbai – 4.8 cr Delhi-U.P. – 2.85 cr Punjab – 1.23 cr Eastern Cicruit – 1.15 cr C.P. – 75 lacs C.I. – 52 lacs Rajasthan – 75 lacs Nizam & Andhra – 68 lacs Mysore – 59 lacs Tamil Nadu & Kerala – 18 lacs
The Saturday numbers were expected to be bigger than Friday. However, Day 2 collections were 13.75 cr nett – 25 lacs more than Day 1 Collections. It remains to be seen if TEES MAAR KHAN manages to cross Rs. 40 cr nett. by Day 3.

TKS takes dull opening; BBB excellent 2nd week

Toonpur Ka Superrhero opened to a dull response of 5-10%. The film has not got a look in at the box office due to the juggernaut Tees Maar Khan. The release is also limited with around 3-4 shows on average at multiplexes and very few single screens.
Even a three week old Band Baaja Baaraat was recording better collections at some stations.
Overall the film is dependent on word of mouth but even if appreciation is there it is unlikely to show in collections as Tees Maar Khan will dominate the box office over the next week or so.

Band Baaja Baarat, on the other hand, is still going strong. Week 2 total stands at Rs. 7.68 cr nett [Week 1 was Rs. 9.40 cr nett]. 2nd week breakup is as follows:- Fri: 1.4 cr, Sat: 1.6 cr, Sun: 2.05 cr, Mon: 72 lacs, Tue: 70 lacs, Wed: 62 lacs, Thu: 59 lacs. Total so far: Rs. 17.08 cr. nett. Excellent.
