After playing 12 roles of bride-to-be in What’s Your Raashee?, Priyanka Chopra is finally playing the role of a bride, not to one man but seven different men. The actress is gearing up for yet another multiple role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s next titled 7 Husbands.

A source reveals, “Vishal was very impressed with Priyanka while working with her in Kaminey. He always referred to her as a dedicated and devoted actress. While scripting for 7 Husbands, without any second thought, he made up his mind to cast the actress in the movie. Vishal also had seen the rushes and promos of What’s Your Raashee? with her 12 different avatars and thought she carried it off really well and could do justice to her film.”

The source continues, “In 7 Husbands, Priyanka will again be seen in seven different avatars of wives to seven different men. She will have different get ups for each wife. The seven different actors for the role of husbands haven’t been finalized as yet. They are in look out for serious actors who might not be A-listers.”

“The movie is still in the scripting process. The movie will go on floors next year after Priyanka’s dates are available and the seven actors are finalized,” adds the source.

Priyanka Chopra remained unavailable for the comment.

Movie Review: 'WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE?' by TARAN ADARSH

By Taran Adarsh, September 25, 2009 – 11:54 IST

Let’s come to the point straight away. When you’ve films like LAGAAN, SWADES and JODHAA AKBAR to your credit, every step you take, every move you make comes under a microscopic view. Naturally then, the expectations from Ashutosh Gowariker’s WHAT’S YOUR RAASHEE? are monumental.

There’s another reason why WHAT’S YOUR RAASHEE? is special. Casting the same actor in 12 different roles is nothing short of a challenge – for the film-maker, for the writer and also for the actor in question.

BY BOLLYWOO HUNGAMA.COM

Now let’s analyze. WHAT’S YOUR RAASHEE? works in parts. There are 12 raashees, which means 12 independent stories, plus there’s a story of the dulha [Harman Baweja] and his family as well, also there’s a story of a family-friend [Darshan Jariwala] running concurrently. That makes it 14 stories, 13 songs, approx. 3.20 hours running time…

Now to the vital question: Does WHAT’S YOUR RAASHEE? work?

Let me answer this question by raising a vital point. Did the running time [of 3 + hours] of SHOLAY, HUM AAPKE HAIN KOUN, LAGAAN, JODHAA AKBAR and GHAJINI bother you? I am sure, it didn’t. The problem with WHAT’S YOUR RAASHEE? is not its length/running time. The problem is its content.

If any film stands on a weak foundation [writing], even 1.30 hours seem never-ending. Conversely, if the writing is power-packed, even 3.30 hours of entertainment seems less. Let’s not blame the length, for the biggest grosser of the More >

MULTIPLE FACES: Priyanka Chopra Priyanka Chopra set to enter book of world records for playing 12 roles in her next film

AAKANKSHA NAVAL-SHETYE Times News Network (BOMBAY TIMES; September 2, 2009)

Hard work does pay. Ask Priyanka Chopra, who is all set to enter the Guinness Book of World Records for playing the highest number of characters in one film. A feat that the actress has accomplished with her 12 avatars in Ashutosh Gowariker’s forthcoming film What’s Your Raashee? The producer has sent the actresses’ name to be officially entered in the Guinness. “If this does happen, it will be phenomenal,” said Priyanka excitedly. “I’m overjoyed and honoured to be a part of this record-breaking film.” Producer Sunita Gowariker, who’s equally elated, revealed, “Priyanka has not only played 12 different roles, but breathed life into 12 distinct characters without the aide of any prosthetics. Few people realise how difficult a challenge it is. This we gauged when we spoke to the Guinness officials. No actor has ever played so many different roles in cinema of any language. So it truly is a world record.” The versatile Kamal Hassan played 10 roles in Dashavataram. He beat Sanjeev Kumar and Sivaji Ganeshan by one role as the two had done nine roles for Naya Din Nayi Raat and Navarathiri respectively. Internationally, too, not many actors have come close to achieving this. Eddie Murphy played seven characters in The Nutty Professor, and he only upped it to eight in the More >

BOLLYWOOD HAS NEVER BEEN SO PREDICTABLE!

I still can’t believe this! The predictions which I made 8 weeks back have proved to be almost true! In my talk no. 53, I had made a prediction of 8 yet-to-be-released Hindi films and guess what, 7 of them have proved to be completely right!

According to my predictions, New York, Kambakkht Ishq and Love Aaj Kal would be successful at the BO. Barring Kambakkht Ishq, New York became a hit while Love Aaj Kal (released last Friday) took a fabulous opening and may soon become the biggest hit of 2009 so far! Then, I had guessed that Paying Guests, Let’s Dance, Runway and Short Kut would flop commercially and all these film did indeed bit the dust! Adhyayan Suman starrer Jashnn would be disastrous, according to my guess, and the same happened!

The only film for which my prediction didn’t hit the mark was Kambakkht Ishq (KI). I had a feeling that the film would turn out to be great as it has come from the stable of producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who has given some of the best entertainers in the past. His films have been entertaining, interesting and have suited the taste of the moviegoers in general. However, KI failed to entertain many. Even though it took a great opening, the mixed response (mostly negative) took a toll in its collections. It has managed to be above-average. So I get 7 on 8 right which is not bad, I guess! ——————————————- SAIF-NEXT SUPERSTAR?
