Akshay’s release PATIALA HOUSE collected approx. Rs. 22.5 to Rs. 23 cr nett in Week 1. The business picked up over the weekend [although it was still below expectations], but didn’t show any upswing on weekdays. The break up is as follows: Fri 4.05 cr, Sat 5.05 cr, Sun 6.05 cr, Mon 2.75 cr, Tue 1.75 cr, Wed 1.5 cr, Thurs 1.35 cr. Till last year, Akshay starrers would fetch Rs. 35 cr + in Week 1, so the first week figure of PH seems really low.

The total cost of PATIALA HOUSE stands at Rs. 45 cr [includes Rs 9 cr incurred on P & A]. The producers have already recovered their investment by selling India theatrical rights [Rs. 23 cr], Overseas [Rs. 7 cr], Satellite [Rs. 15 cr] and Music + Home Video combined [Rs. 4.5 cr]. The onus falls on the distributors, who acquired the film at reasonable prices. The film has to sustain  in its second weekend, so that the respective distributors can recover their investment.
