Zarina Wahab to play mother to Hrithik, John

Zarina Wahab was recently seen playing the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan. Post that she also impressed one and all in her role as Vivek Oberoi’s mother in RGV’s Rakht Charitra.
Now the veteran actress is all set to play on-screen mother to two more hunks of Bollywood, namely Hrithik Roshan and John Abraham. Zarina would be seen as Hrithik’s mother in the remake of Agneepath while she would be playing the role of John’s mother in the untitled film produced by Shrishti Arya and directed by Kapil Sharma.
Surely this talented actress has become the first choice of many filmmakers to play the role of the proverbial on-screen ‘Maa‘.

SRK hosts special screening of Always Kabhi Kabhi

Guess some of the good habits of Aamir Khan are rubbing over Shah Rukh Khan as well. It is a known fact that Aamir Khan hosts special screenings for practically each of his films prior to their theatrical release. Now Shah Rukh too has done the same for Always Kabhi Kabhi, a film coming from his production house which is directed by Roshan Abbas.
Informs a source closely attached to the film, “Yes, there were a couple of test screenings that were held a few weeks back. Unlike many film makers who host special screenings only in Mumbai, Shah Rukh took the film to Delhi as well. He wanted to gauge reaction from the two biggest audience bases for his campus entertainer.”
The test screening was held for hundreds of students and youngsters who belonged to 14-24 year age group, which is also the film’s target audience. This is not a first in Bollywood though as Aamir has done this for each of his films, whether it is 3 Idiots, Taare Zameen Par or even nephew Imran’s Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa.
“The idea is to closely monitor audience reaction and see which are the scenes that are the highest as well as the lowest points in the film’s narrative. Roshan was quite involved in both these screenings and took notes so that he could go back to the editing table and make necessary changes, if required”, continues the source.

Mahesh Bhatt heads for Iraq in spite of warning

Besides Japan, the last place that any person would want to be seen at the moment is war-torn Iraq. But Mahesh Bhatt who’s producing a play on the Iraqi journalist Muntazer-al-Zayedi’s shoe-throwing incident, is heading to Iraq with his director Arvind Gaur and actor Imran Zahid at the earliest, this week if possible.
Bhatt and his associates’ mission? To meet Muntazer, get a feel of the blood-soaked land and make a documentary on the civil war in Iraq before, the play goes on stage next month.
On being informed of Bhatt and Imran’s plans for an early Iraqi visit, Muntazer hurriedly emailed, “Hello my dear friend (sic.) Imran! I hope you are doing good! First of all I like (sic.) to thank you about your feeling. It is very difficult situation in Iraq now! It will be big problem to you if you are coming to Iraq. We can meet each other when I will be in India.”
Unheedful of Muntazer’s warning, Mahesh and Imran are currently persuading the Minister Of External Affairs to issue visas, since there is no Indian ambassador in Iraq at the moment. The trio leaves for Iraq the minute the visas are granted. Not the easiest of things to acquire at the moment. But Mahesh Bhatt has put in a request at the highest level in the concerned Ministry.

Sara Khan diagnosed with kidney stones

TV actress Sara Khan remembered most for her big fat wedding on a reality TV show was recently rushed to a hospital near Mira Road following excruciating pain in her stomach on Monday, 14th of March.
A source told Mumbai Mirror, “She attended the 100th episode bash of the TV show Ram Milaayi Jodi the same evening.
Yogen shahMedical investigations are still on to diagnose the exact cause of the pain. She’s still suffering from bouts of pain and barely manages to get through her day to day activities.”
A friend said, “We are extremely concerned about her health. She has become too weak and we hope she bounces back soon.”
When contacted, Sara said, “Well, it has just been diagnosed that I have a stone in my kidney. I will try to dissolve it by homeopathy.”

Anupam Kher talks about his toughest scene

I ‘ve done some difficult scenes in my life but the climax sequence of Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara was the toughest scene of my life,” says Anupam Kher.
Kher plays a man stricken with Alzheimer’s and he had to express Gandhian thoughts in his exceptional psychological state. “The speech couldn’t be too heavy considering the character I play has Alzheimer’s,” says Kher. “I had to keep my speech pretty basic and express them like a man who has lost his capacity to remember things.”
Kher had to undertake a lot of research for his role in the film since he did not want to confuse the symptoms of Alzheimer’s with Parkinson’s. “The courtroom finale in Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara is my most researched scene till date.
I didn’t play the man as a textbook example of Alzheimer’s .I wanted to internalise the man’s trauma,” reveals the actor.
The three-page monologue at the end of the film was done in a single take, making it the toughest Kher had ever shot.
“The fact that it was my home production gave me the courage to try something so audacious,” admits Kher.
SRK joins Facebook

After quitting Twitter, SRK didn’t want to be a part of social networking sites.
However, he has now decided to join Facebook primarily for his fans.
His Facebook page will be inaugurated today at 9 pm IST with the online premiere of his 22-minute documentary on Mughal-E-Azam, which celebrates 51 years of the timeless classic directed by the legendary director K.Asif.
Our source said, “He hopes to get support from the Indian Government and film associations in the future who will come together to create a forum to preserve such classic films and use Facebook to reach out to a wider audience.
SRK will also be promoting his upcoming film Ra.One through the social networking site.”
Dhawan gets Chashme Buddoor team back

The director is all set to remake the 1981 comedy

Comedy king David Dhawan is all set to remake the 1981 hit comedy Chashme Buddoor.
But not without the blessings and approval of those associated with the original. He wants the original cast of the film to make at least one appearance in the film.
“Ravi Baswani who was a dear friend of mine and an integral part of the cast of the film is no more. But I’ll have Farooq and Deepti in the film for at least one shot. I also want Rakesh Bedi to make an appearance,” says Dhawan.
David Dhawan Poster of Chashme BuddoorBut it’s the Chashme Buddoor director Sai Paranjpe whom David wants to meet first. “My take on the film will be far more contemporary, much more ‘today’. But the essence of the film will be what Sai made,” reveals the director.
Luckily for David he and Sai go back a long way. “I had edited a documentary for Sai in 1976 and that’s how far we go back. I’ve to seek her good wishes before plunging into my own Chashme Buddoor.
The spirit of the original will hover over my film. I don’t want to remake and suffer on account of bad karma,” explains David.
Zarine Khan bags Housefull 2

Zarine Khan hit the headlines with her striking similarity to Katrina Kaif. And after a box office dud Veer, opposite Salman Khan, she hit the gym. The latter has finally paid off!
After making a cameo appearance in Salman Khan’s Ready, Zarine will now be seen in Salman’s close friend Sajid Nadiadwala’s film Housefull 2. She has already signed the project.
When contacted, Sajid Khan, the director of the film confirmed the news, saying, “Yes, she has joined the cast along with Asin and Jacqueline. However, I won’t be able to tell you whom she has been signed opposite as the screenplay is quite twisted.
Sajid Nadiadwala gave the story idea. Tusshar Hiranandani, Sajid-Farhad and I are writing the screenplay. Sajid-Farhad are writing the dialogues as well.”
So how was Zarine finalised? “I met her at a cancer association function with my producer Sajid Nadiadwala. That’s when we saw how beautiful she has become.
She has lost a lot of weight as well. Within a week we decided to sign her for the film,” revealed Khan.
Nadiadwala confirming the news, said, “I have known her for a long time. We have been family friends and I am glad that we are working together.”

After splitting with her boyfriend Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra has upset with Kareena Kapoor, once again.
We hear that Kareena is mighty upset over the fact that Priyanka continues to take digs at her even after Shah Rukh and Saif cajoled them to patch up on stage at the Mumbai Police Mela in December last year (Mumbai Mirror, December 21, 2010).
To start with, Priyanka’s comment in a film magazine in mid-March, saying ‘I don’t think Kareena likes me’ hurt Kareena no end. Says a source, “Kareena was shocked when she read it. Patch-up ke baad koi aisa baat kar sakta hai? Kyun?”
Kareena let this pass, but Priyanka was at it again. Priyanka reportedly said at a recent press conference that she considers Kareena as an actress but it’s a pity that Kareena doesn’t consider her one. Reveals the source, “This time Kareena’s shock was compounded.
Why is Priyanka raking up the past, that too with such alarming regularity? After their patch-up, Kareena has never said anything against Priyanka. In fact, she has been quite fond of her.
