SRK-Salman war goes global?

Sohail Khan throws a party alongside SRK in the same hotel in Toronto, invites everybody but Priyanka

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 29, 2011)

The Khan war has just transcended geographical barriers and reached the other side of the world. From India to Toronto, the Shah Rukh – Salman enmity has just gone global. And caught in the crossfire is SRK’s new-found good friend Priyanka Chopra.

At a recent award weekend in the aforementioned city, SRK decided to throw a party. And so did Salman’s brother Sohail. And since the entire industry was present in the city, both parties decided to have all tinsel townies on their guest list. Well, almost ‘all’. Priyanka Chopra was left out from Sohail’s invite list. Just an error? We think not!

The parties, interestingly enough were being held at two different suites in the same hotel. The glitterati kept flitting from one party to the other. The only people who stayed put at SRK’s bash were Priyanka and SRK himself.

Even King Khan’s close buddies Maheep Kapoor (Sanjay Kapoor’s wife) and Bhavna Pandey (Chunkey Pandey’s wife) were on the Sohail guest list. Worse, even SRK’s wife Gauri was invited by the other Khan.

“Lekin Priyanka was still not invited. Everybody noticed that she had been left out from Sohail’s bash. We doubt that she would have been invited if Salman had attended the party,” revealed a good friend of Sohail’s.

Maheep, Bhavna and even Hrithik Roshan were seen shuttling between the two suites. More >

5 crores loss for Heroine?

0

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, June 28, 2011 – 12:03 IST

With uncertainty looming large over the film’s fate and unconfirmed reports stating that Heroine could either be shelved completely or begin with another leading lady, trade is pegging the overall loss of 4-5 crores on a conservative scale.

“It could even be more. There was so much spent on the film’s pre-production. Who is going to account for the money spent on the shooting so far”, questions a trade source.

While it is being said that Ash is willing to continue with the film’s shoot with director Madhur Bhandarkar on a fast track mode so that no one’s interests are harmed, it is obvious that the makers aren’t willing to buy any justification. More so because apparently, neither the producers (UTV) nor the director were informed in advance about Ash going the family way.

“Aisa thodi hi hota hai”, is the question asked, “There was an overseas shoot planned. Then there are a couple of dances that Ash was supposed to do. For the dramatic portions of the film, Madhur could still go ahead and take close-up shots to hide her pregnancy. But how about the part where she has to look glamorous? Her entire profile can anyways not be shown on camera, now that she is all set to put on weight.”

A stickler for getting it all just right, especially when it comes to a film of his with a real and hard hitting setting, Madhur can’t be expected to allow Ash faking anything for camera. No wonder, with so much More >

Drawing example from friend Salman Khan, the actor is all set to mark his TV debut with the reality show

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 28, 2011)

Bigg Boss season 5 gets bigger. Sanjay Dutt has taken over from his good friend Sallu as the host of the show. This time around the show will have the original macho man of Bollywood hosting it. With special appearances by Salman.

In fact, it was Salman Khan who suggested Sanjubaba’s name. A source revealed, “After Amitabh, it was Salman Khan who was arguably the most popular host of the show so far. However Salman, who was supposed to host the fifth season as well is tied up with too many film commitments.

He has to shoot for Sher Khan immediately after Bodyguard. Then he has Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger, Nadiadwala’s Kick and Dabangg 2. Considering his busy schedule, Salman suggested the show producers that they approach Sanjay Dutt for the show.”

The channel approached Sanjay and after a few meetings the deal was sealed. “However, Sanjay is yet to sign the dotted lines. But everything has been chalked out. The show goes on air in October. Karan Johar’s Agneepath will be wrapped up by then. He will start shooting for Bigg Boss immediately after that,” said the source.

Another source added, “The channel was keen to retain Salman. However, when they approached him, he expressed his inability to do the show.”

Sanjubaba however, took his time to decide on his first television commitment. “He will soon sign More >

Ash refuses to do item song for Heroine?

The actress is miffed with Madhur Bhandarkar who have altered the fine print of her agreement by demanding her to do two item songs for Heroine

Subhash K Jha (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 28, 2011)

After Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s ‘good news’, everything was going right for the Bachchans, till Madhur Bhandarkar and UTV’s Siddharth Roy Kapoor chose to play villains by allegedly making some bizarre demands from leading lady Ash.

Much to the horror  of the Bachchans, Bhandarkar has suddenly decided that his film needs two item songs. Naturally, given that Ash is pregnant, this is a difficult feat.

Only weeks after going on floors, Aishwarya announced her pregnancy. The filmmakers, though happy for Ash, couldn’t help but get troubled over their film. Amidst media speculations about the much talked about film being shelved, the filmmakers held hurried meetings to decide the fate of the film. The outcome of the meetings did not go down too well with the Bachchans.

A source close to Ash revealed, “Aishwarya had made it clear that she would complete Heroine by the end of July. Now Madhur is saying it isn’t possible to complete the film within the stipulated time. Is it her fault if they’re suddenly unsure of finishing their film?” In fact, the two new conditions were apparently put forward at two separate meetings that Siddharth Roy Kapoor of UTV and Bhandarkar had with Aishwarya at the Bachchans’ office in Jalsa last week. On both occasions, Aishwarya was More >

Aishwarya sacked from Heroine for being pregnant?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been dropped from Heroine. Legal experts say it’s a case of gender discrimination

Melissa D’costa (BOMBAY TIMES; June 28, 2011)

Survival of the fittest is the only way to get to the top, and motherhood is often viewed as a spanner in the works for professional women. Take the case of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who has been dropped from her latest film Heroine because she is pregnant. Director Madhur Bhandarkar should be worried.

The country’s laws protect women from such discrimination in the corporate world, where they can even take their firms to court if they can prove discrimination in the workplace, i.e. denied a promotion or let go of because of the bump. Bachchan is clearly a victim, but will she seek legal recourse against Bhandarkar and the production house?

According to an insider, Madhur met the actress after the big news was announced and informed her that she was no longer required to shoot for the film. It was a big blow to Ash when she was told she could not be part of the project in her current state! ARB is still clueless about whether the film has been shelved permanently or she’s been dropped from the film.

It has long been established that unfavourable treatment due to pregnancy is a form of gender discrimination. Ketan Gupta of LegalEye Associates says, “As per the constitution, discrimination on the basis of gender can invite legal action. However, this is subject to contractual terms More >

Delhi Belly takes potshots at SRK?

0

By Subhash K. Jha, June 27, 2011 – 11:26 IST

After the continuous barbs and pot-shots between Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh, their fight for supremacy at the box office has now gone to the next level. To the endorsements, if you please!

Apparently, in that seeming ode to celluloid irreverence that is Delhi Belly, a brand of Korean car that Shah Rukh Khan endorses is badly manhandled by the protagonists. After this bit of artistic demolition, the characters stare triumphantly at the wreckage that once used to be a sleek auto mobile.

And then comes the clincher. Kunaal Roy Kapur (who incidentally is UTV’s Siddharth Roy Kapoor’s brother and also Guzaarish actor Aditya Roy Kapoor’s sibling) turns around to say, “When a donkey mates (he apparently uses a much less polite word) an auto rickshaw you get a car like this.”

So could the whole car-nama or shall we car-toot devised for this deviously disrespectful film be just a coincidence and no smirch on SRK’s endorsement commitments?

Sources say, the brand of the car and the whole car-bashing that follows was pre-planned and conceived as a direct dig on SRK.

According to a very reliable source, “Though obviously the brand name of the car that Imran, Vir and Kunaal go hammers and tongs at, is not visible on screen, the make of the car is obvious and it is also obvious which brand is being referred to .In this sequence, the automobile’s brand ambassador’s tastes in consumer goods are being questioned with a remark about a More >

With Sajid Nadiadwala and Salman Khan resolving their issues, all the ambiguity surrounding the filmmaker’s project is a thing of the past

Vickey Lalwani (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 27, 2011)

Salman Khan buries the hatchet with filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala

Sajid Nadiadwala’s project Kick has been stirring up a whirlwind of controversies. And the producer’s strained relationship with Salman Khan has garnered the most attention. However, the two have decided to put aside their differences and start afresh.

All the ambiguity around Salman coming on-board has finally been clarified by the actor himself. He has personally confirmed to director Shirish Kunder that he is ready to get the project on its way.

A source told us, “All’s well that ends well. Now everything is fine between Salman and Nadiadwala. Their relationship goes way back. They hit it off with Jeet, in 1996, followed by a superhit Judwaa (1997).

Their professional relationship continued with Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega (2000) and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004). The problems between the two began during the filming of their last film Jaan-E-Mann, in 2006. But now, their friendship is back on track.”

The tensions between the two escalated when Salman demanded an additional Rs 5 crore from Nadiadwala to go ahead with the project (Mumbai Mirror, April 8, 2011). The actor was not pleased with the way the filmmaker treated him over the past five years. For a long time, Nadiadwala’s attention was More >

In an interview to a leading German tabloid, the model-actor’s spiritual guru has said precisely that! Read on…

Zinia Sen (BOMBAY TIMES; June 27, 2011)

In a curious case, sex siren Claudia Ciesla, who debuted on reality show Bigg Boss 3, has been tagged the reincarnation of Lord Ganesha, by her spiritual guru, Ramesh. The news has been flashed recently on the online edition of a leading tabloid in Germany.

The opening paragraph of the article goes like this: Claudia Ciesla (22) is very special, we have long known. She is the first German in Bollywood to become a movie star. Now, her guru says that the sexy Münchnerin had a rebirth and is the reincarnation of the Hindu deity Ganesha.

“Claudia has a strong spiritual connection to Ganesha. This is evident not only in her career but also in her great social commitment and generosity,” Ramesh told the tabloid.

SRK-Priyanka in Tarun Mansukhani’s next?

Tushar Joshi (BOMBAY TIMES; June 26, 2011)

Shah Rukh Khan has given Tarun Mansukhani a new task, after the director directed a few scenes for his home production Ra.One. Now that Dostana 2 is on hold, the D2 director will pen a fresh script for SRK and Priyanka Chopra. Since the suggestion came from Khan, Mansukhani was more than happy to jump at it.

A source reveals, “For now, there’s a complete stalemate over the Dostana sequel. Tarun has finished writing the sequel but producer Karan Johar is not happy with the second half. After many rewrites, Mansukhani has now given up. Anyway he is committed to do a film with Karan’s production house, the PC-SRK film might just be the thing. Dostana released in 2008, and the director has been raring to start his second film, and has kept himself busy directing commercials.”

SRK opined that since Dostana 2 was on hold, Tarun should come up with something featuring PC and him. The source adds, “SRK has already had a chat with Karan and has expressed his desire for the Dostana director to come up with a subject for the pair.”

While details on the project are not known, the source confirms that Tarun is quite excited with the prospect of writing a plot for them. “He has already shown interest and will begin work on a script.”

Aarakshan promo removed from Double Dhamaal?

History repeats itself. Is Bollywood afraid of Jha?

Kunal M Shah (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 25, 2011)

Prakash Jha; a poster of his Aarakshan

Seems like filmmakers in India truly consider Prakash Jha to be an A-class director. Their insecurity is palpable as they seem wary to place their own films with even the promos of the veteran director’s.

As reported in Mumbai Mirror in December 2009, Vidhu Vinod Chopra removed the promos of Jha’s Raajneeti from his film 3 Idiots. History has repeated itself with his promos of the upcoming Aarakshan.

When Jha sent his team to gauge the audience’s reaction to the promos of his new film, he was disappointed to discover that the promos had been removed from Double Dhamaal. Much like the case with Raajneeti, the promos of Aarakshan were evidently removed from the comedy that released yesterday at the last moment.

When contacted, Prakash Jha said, “Yes, the promos never got attached and it is surprising. I had spoken to the producer of Double Dhamaal, Ashok Thackeria and he confirmed that the promos would indeed come with the film.

However, when Double Dhamaal released yesterday, I learnt that the promos are not there. I called the lab and I was told that someone had asked them to remove the promo. I am not aware who is behind this.”

!! CHECK THE PROMO OF AARAKSHAN HERE !!

The incident’s similarity with that to Raajneeti is hard to miss and Jha agrees with this; “Yes, this happened then too and I am surprised More >
