Here come the results and it was really a pleasure to see so many people have voted this year too! In fact, the number of voters has increased significantly since last year which is indeed an achievement. People not only took time to vote but also recommended their friends to do the same! A big thank you to all of you people!

The result of these awards are of utmost significance as it’s the ‘aam aadmi’s choice’, and not that of any jury! Below are the results:

Best Film

Karan Johar’s magnum opus was the leading choice for majority of the voters. It bagged 55% of the votes although it had huge competition in the form of Raajneeti (which got 28% votes). 3rd came Ishqiya (8%) followed by Love Sex Aur Dhokha (6%). Housefull may have been a huge grosser but it manage to bag the lowest votes (4%)!

Best Director
KARAN JOHAR (My Name Is Khan)
was the winner even here with 47% votes. Prakash Jha’s Raajneeti got little higher votes (30%) than the previous category. IshqiyaLSD were 3rd and 4th respectively here too. Kites and Rann had embarrassingly low votes (2% and 1% respectively). and

Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male)
SHAH RUKH KHAN (My Name Is Khan)

SRK proves once again why he’s the Baadshah. He bagged as many as 60% of votes, the highest % of votes that any nominee bagged in any category! This speaks volumes about his performance that impressed one and all. Ranbir also did a fine job in Raajneeti but got overshadowed by SRK’s class act! Arshad Warsi, Shahid Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar too got impressive votes. However the shocker was Hrithik Roshan, who got the least number of votes (2%)!

Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female)
KAJOL (My Name Is Khan)

Although many felt that Vidya Balan would take away this award for her performance in Ishqiya, it’s Kajol who’s the winner with 51% votes! Vidya came second with 36% votes. A lot was said and written about Katrina Kaif and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s performance in Raajneeti and Raavan respectively. But audiences weren’t much impressed by them and both bagged 5% votes. Minissha Lamba, meanwhile, failed to get even a single vote!

Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male)
ARJUN RAMPAL (Raajneeti)

Arjun shows that his performance in ‘Rock On!!’ wasn’t a fluke and that he indeed is a marvelous actor. He gets 41% votes inspite of having tough competition from Naseeruddin Shah (27%) and Nana Patekar (22%)! Congrats to this worthy actor!

Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female)
NEHA CHAUHAN aka Rashmi (Love Sex Aur Dholha)

Now this one was the biggest surprise of the awards! Who knew that a newbie who debuted in a low-cost film would leave behind talented actresses like Konkona, Priyamani, Suchitra Krishnamurthy and Dimple Kapadia?! But Neha Chauhan, who played Rashmi in LSD, the female in the 2nd actor who becomes a victim to a shameful act of voyeurism in the film, came out with flying colours with 33% votes. Konkona was initially ahead but settled eventually with 24% votes. The rest, too, bagged decent votes.

Best Actor in a Comic Role
PARESH RAWAL (Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?)

Paresh Rawal’s act as the irritating but funny guest seems to have impressed audiences a lot. He was leading from Day 1 and managed to get 47% votes. Chunky Pandey was loved for his Indo-Italian act in Housefull but shockingly he came 3rd with just 12% votes. Boman Irani, instead, fared much better (27%) than him!

Best Actor in a Negative Role

The veteran actor was a clear winner from Day 1 and eventually got as many as 60% votes, i.e. as much as SRK for Best Actor! A significant achievement indeed and totally deserving! Ajay Devgn also did a great job in Raajneeti but got overshadowed by Bajpayee but still bagged 25% votes. Isaiah, the baddie in Prince, got zero votes!

Best Debut (Male)
MEIYANG CHANG (Badmaash Company)

The cute singer-turned-actor wins in this category and bags a huge 56% of votes! 2nd came Herry Tangri, who played Loki Local in LSD and bagged an impressive 19% votes. It was a surprise to see Aanaahad getting as many as 11% votes which is great considering that the film was missed by many.

Best Debut (Female)

The film may have failed, Hrithik might not have impressed (as is evident from the votes he bagged) but Barbara surely won many hearts! The Spanish hottie bagged 58% votes and was leading from the very beginning. Zarine Khan got 20% votes which is surely worth appreciating. Aruna Sheilds upped the glamour and oomph in Prince and won 11% votes. Anyways, hearty congratulations to Barbara and lets hope we get to see her more in Bollywood and most importantly, in well-made films!

Best Debut Director
PARMEET SETHI (Badmaash Company)

People seem to have been very very impressed with Sethi’s debut product. Otherwise, nothing else can explain him getting 39% votes inspite of tough competition. Abhishek Chaubey (Ishqiya) would have easily won had he bagged 3 more votes and settled with 35% votes! Very unfortunate for Chaubey who really did a great job with his first film!

Best Music

My Name Is Khan was expected to strike gold in popular categories but who knew they would taste success in music too?! The music of the film bagged 50% votes! Vishal Bharadwaj lagged behind with 22% votes inspite of coming up with a soulful album! Again, Housefull received the lowest votes (5%)!

Best Lyrics
NIRANJAN IYENGAR (Noor-E-Khuda…My Name Is Khan)

The extremely touching lyrics of this beautiful song mesmerized one and all and bagged 33% votes! Gulzar (Dil To Bachcha) who was at the forefront initially eventually received 21% votes. Mora Piya, which was on everyone’s lips some time back, and Nasir Faraaz’s words in Dil Kyun Ye Mera both received 15% votes. People enjoyed listening to Ibn-E-Batuta but lyrics didn’t seem to impress them. It got the least votes (7%)!

Most Popular Song

Gulzar and Vishal Bharadwaj’s excellent contribution in this song helped it win in this category (35% votes). Second was a surprise-Tere Liye with 18% votes. Behene De had became very popular but it bagged just 13% votes. Same with Bheegi Si which came last (8% votes)!

Best Playback Singer (Male)
SHAFQAT AMANAT ALI (Tere Naina…My Name Is Khan)

Now this one was a close fight! Shafqat Amanat Ali and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan both tussled well to win. Finally Shafqat came out with flying colours and with 34% votes. Rahat unfortunately lost as her fell short of just one vote (33%)! So very unfortunate! Ibn-E-Batuta again wasn’t the popular choice and it received just 6% votes! Same goes for Mora Piya which got equal % of votes as Ibn-E-Batuta!

Best Playback Singer (Female)
REKHA BHARDWAJ (Ranjha Ranjha…Raavan)

Raavan finally one award for this mesmering song sung by an extremely talented lady! Surprisingly, it was difficult to ascertain initially who’ll win. Shreya Ghoshal was leading initially but eventually stood 4th with 13% votes! Alayssa Mendonsa (Uff Teri Ada) then was leading for a brief period and was then by Antara Mitra. But suddenly Rekha took over and refused to step down and finally tasted a well-deserved success!

All those who wish to confirm whether the winners and percentages are actually true and not rigged/cheated can do so here!

To conclude, I would again like to thank each one of you who helped in making these awards successful as I wanted it to be! I hope you guys had lots of fun in voting and also in checking out the results! Many surprises sprang up which I didn’t expect at all. FENIL’S HALF YEARLY AWARDS 2010 ../../2010/07/25/fenils-half-yearly-awards-2010/ ../../2010/07/25/fenils-half-yearly-awards-2010/#comments Sun, 25 Jul 2010 10:38:58 +0000 Fenil Seta ../../?p=12272 After the super-successful Half-Yearly Awards 2009, we are back this year! All those who came late, here’s a brief idea of this concept-through this awards, we’ll take into consideration all the films that released in the first 6 months of the year (Jan to June). 2 reasons for doing this-one, during the awards season, films released throughout the year are considered and hence due to the huge number of movies, many interesting and deserving films get left out (at times, deliberately). And secondly, people are losing trust from the so-called awards and are increasingly seen as rigged. However, FENIL’S HALF YEARLY AWARDS gives you a chance to vote for your favourites and give them the appreciation and honour which they rightfully deserve!

So, all you guys, start voting and help to choose the right winners! It won’t even take more than 2 minutes! Hurry Up! Voting closes on Sunday, August 8. Results will be announced on Monday August9! And let all your moviegoing friends/family members/relatives/acquaintances know about these awards! I want this year’s edition to be much bigger than last year’s! So GET SET VOTE!!

FENIL'S HALF YEARLY AWARDS 2009-RESULTS! ../../2009/08/24/fenils-half-yearly-awards-2009-results/ ../../2009/08/24/fenils-half-yearly-awards-2009-results/#comments Mon, 24 Aug 2009 09:27:37 +0000 Fenil Seta http://fenilandbollywood.wordpress.com/?p=1811 The results are finally out! I was pleasantly surprised to see more than hundred votes in each category! Good to see that people took out time to vote and even for recommending their friends to do the same! Thanks a ton guys!

The results of the awards are of utmost significance as it is the ‘aam aadmi’s choice’, and not that of any jury. Below are the results:

Best Film

Kabir Khan’s film on terrorism managed to get the highest votes in this category. Dev D could have won if it had received some more votes. Surprisingly, even a film like 99 bagged many votes! Luck By Chance, Gulaal and Firaaq unfortunately lagged behind.

Best Director

Kashyap’s modern take on Devdas impressed the audiences and bagged this award. New York came 2nd and even Kashyap’s Gulaal bagged quite a many votes and stood 3rd. Congrats to Anurag!

Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male)

The talented actor got as many as 65% votes which speak volumes of Abhay Deol’s mind blowing performance in Dev D! John Abraham also bagged quite a many votes, proving that people do consider him as a good actor! Farhan Akhtar (Luck By Chance) and Irrfan Khan (Billu) got quite low votes. And as for the remaining two contenders, R Madhavan (13B) and Akshay Kumar (8×10 Tasveer), the less said, the better!

Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female)

Now this was a surprise! I expected Katrina (New York) or Kangna (Raaz) to bag the maximum votes! Anyways, this proves that our audience would want people who pitch in an excellent performance to get the award and not the popular faces! Filmfare/Star Screen guys, are you listening?! P.S.: Bipasha Basu (Aa Dekhen Zara) got just 1% of the votes!

Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male)

This was a very competitive category as each of the nominees here had given a brilliant performance. Naturally, it was difficult for the voters to choose any one of them and as a result, 4 actors out of 6 nominated got lots of votes. In fact, it was difficult to ascertain as to who’ll win at the end. At times, Irrfan Khan (New York) used to be ahead and then suddenly sometimes, Abhimanyu Singh’s (Gulaal) votes used to increase. But eventually, Neil came out with flying colours. And good to see Abhimanyu Singh bagging so much votes too. His Ransa act in Gulaal was really outstanding and memorable!

Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female)

Dev D’s Paro was a clear winner from Day 1. Isha Shervani’s cute performance in Luck By Chance also bagged her some votes. Kalki Koechlin stood third, followed by Deepti Naval (Firaaq). Ayesha Mohan gave a confident performance in Gulaal but unfortunately got the least votes.

Best Actor in a Comic Role

Cyrus has always been loved ever since his MTV Days. And his performance as Kunal Khemu’s fat friend in 99 helped him bag the maximum awards in this category (66%). Congrats Cyrus!

Best Actor in a Negative Role

Kay Kay’s performance in Gulaal was powerful and he got more than 50% votes. Surprisingly, even Mahesh Manjrekar (99) got around 30% votes and stood 2nd. CC2C’s Gordon Liu got very few votes!

Best Debut (Male)

This was the biggest surprise simply because he bagged as much as 76% of votes, the highest % of votes that any nominee bagged in any category! Shockingly, Jackky Bhagnani, a more popular face than Raj Singh got very few votes. Way to Go RSC!

Best Debut (Female)

Mahie is the only actor to win in 2 categories and here too, she was the clear winner. Astonishingly, Dev D’s Chanda (Kalki Koechlin) bagged just 8% of votes inspite of doing such a great job. Aamna Sharif, in fact, got more votes than Kalki (9%). Anyways, double congrats to Mahie!

Best Music

The out-of-the-box music in Dev D worked and helped the young composer to win in this category! A R Rahman stood 2nd for Delhi-6 even though he had a become a hot favourite after winning the Oscar earlier this year.

Best Lyrics
AMITABH BHATTACHARYA (Emosanal Attyachar…Dev D)

I didn’t expect this song to win in the lyrics category. But audience is the king and Amitabh’s funky lyrics managed to win by high number of votes. Javed Akhtar (Sapno Se Bhare Naina) came second. Kumaar (Soniyo) was actually ahead initially and it seemed he would be the winner!

Most Popular Song

This was pretty expected as Emosanal Attychar was indeed a very popular song and is still loved. Masakali was 2nd and could have easily won if it had bagged some more votes. Tennu Le (Jai Veeru) and Maahi (Raaz) bagged surprisingly low votes.

Best Playback Singer (Male)
MOHIT CHAUHAN (Masakali…Delhi-6)

It was known that Mohit would be a winner even before the voting started as his melodious singing in Masakali was loved and appreciated by every kind of music lovers. Rangeela & Rasila (Emosanal Attyachar) couldn’t bag many votes in this category. If they had won here too, it would have been a hattrick victory for Emosanal Attyachar!

Best Playback Singer (Female)

The vocals of these three talented ladies in this cool fusion number worked and helped them bag this award! Sunidhi Chauhan (Mere Sang…New York) who was expected to win unfortunately got just 22% of the votes.

To conclude, I would like to thank each and everyone who voted and made the HALF YEARLY AWARDS 2009 a complete success! Quite a many surprises sprang up and it gave an indication as to who moviegoers really want to get that prestigious award.

We’ll be back next year for sure and I promise it would be bigger! Till then, keep visiting my blog for all the latest news, gossips, and lots of interesting stuff!
