WHY FRET ABOUT SUBTITLES?

A week back, when I posted my previous Bollywood Talk, I had already planned that my next Talk would talk about the success of Kites! I was completely sure that this Hrithik Roshan-starrer produced by papa Rakesh Roshan and directed by the talented Anurag Basu would rock without a shred of doubt. But world is so unpredictable. One of the most important films of the year that’s there in news since more than a year has failed!

I didn’t like Kites for a different reason. I felt the climax was a total disappointment and ruined the film completely. Although the film is wonderfully directed and performed and has its moments, the lame ending spoiled it all. Viewers overall had another complaint-Kites wasn’t a Hindi film! While the lead actress speaks Spanish throughout the film, the actor is speaking in English for most of the part! Also, people had trouble reading the subtitles. Hum film dekhe ya subtitles padhe is what some people are complaining. Totally baseless comment especially for the audiences of metros! Havent we seen and understood films from start to finish on UTV World Movies, NDTV Lumiere etc and in film festivals with the help of subtitles? Then why fret when a Bollywood film adopts a similar technique? Also it is important that we encourage the subtitle technique as it is the future. Its high time Bollywood comes up with films showing characters coming from different cultures and speaking different languages. Only then will our films boast of some freshness. Till when are we going to show actors living in same country/city or every third person in Bangkok speaking Hindi? We want our films to be as real and as authentic as possible, don’t we? Then we must encourage this trend! Of course this might be a problem for the people in rural towns and the illiterate population. But we, the urbanites, should not be complaining at least!

THE ISSUE IS OPEN TO DEBATE AND DISCUSSIONS IN THE COMMENT SECTION!

FILM ON 26/11 AND KASAB RELEASING TOMORROW

Ashok Chakra-A Tribute To Real Heroes, a movie based on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks is all set to release tomorrow. Earlier titled Total Ten, the film hasn’t promoted well and hence many don’t know about its release. That’s good actually; otherwise, it would have attracted unwanted controversies! Debutant Rajan Verma plays Ajmal Kasab and besides the film also stars Homi Wadia, Sudesh Berry, Ashish Vidyarthi, Mushtaq Khan and others. According to the actors themselves, Kasab is hanged towards the end of the film.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE THIS FILM (SINCE THERE’S NO OTHER HINDI RELEASE THIS FRIDAY)? DO LET ME KNOW!

GET READY FOR THE ‘BIG 3’!

The next 6 Fridays will see the release of 3 biggies every alternative week. So while Kites will release tomorrow, Raajneeti will release on June 4 and Raavan on June 18. The hype surrounding these 3 films is so huge that there would be hardly any release between the release of these 3 films (i.e. on May 28 and June 11).

Talking about Kites, the film is hugely awaited ever since it’s filming commenced way back in 2008. The hype increased when news came out that Hrithik is having an affair with Barbara and that Sussanne might divorce him. It seemed like a publicity stunt but it paid off so well! The name of the film was on everyone’s lips and Barbara instantly became a household name!

The film has all factors going in its favour. This is Hrithik’s first film after Jodhaa Akbar which came way back in 2008. The Hrithik-Barbara jodi is piping hot. Promos are excellent and songs have been well received too. The film is produced by Rakesh Roshan. Whenever the son and dad have joined hands, they have created history (Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish). Hence everyone’s hoping that Kites would surely be rocking! Moreover, the film is directed by Anurag Basu who has won hearts with Gangster and Life In A Metro. Hrithik, Rakesh, Anurag, Barbara…with so many big names, the expectations are bound to be skyhigh!

The Roshans and the distributors Reliance Big Pictures have ensured that the film makes its presence felt like no other Hindi film has done before. Besides giving it a wide release and record number of shows in multiplexes, a separate version of the film will be released for international audiences. Titled Kites: The Remix, the film’s duration is of just 90 minutes as against the actual duration of 120 minutes. Brett Ratner, director of X Men and Rush Hour, has done the editing of the international version. The poster of Kites: The Remix is also modified and you can see it for yourself. The wound on Barbara’s arm is made bloodier! A gun is thumped in Hrithik’s hands. Brett Ratner’s name is mentioned in bold while Anurag and Rakesh Roshan’s name is lost somewhere in small print!

The international version can work provided the promotion has been satisfactory. My Name Is Khan also adopted a similar strategy and its international version released on May 7. However, there was zero hype surrounding it and hence the film’s collections were shockingly poor. I hope the same doesn’t happen for Kites: The Remix.

While the fate overseas is unclear, one thing is for sure and that is Kites’ would surely take an earth-shattering opening in India! In fact, it has the chances to be the biggest grosser out of the Big 3 (Raajneeti, Raavan). Heartfelt best of luck to the entire team! Dhoom Macha Do!!

BADMAASH COMPANY-A HIT THAT SHAHID DESPARATELY NEEDS!

Shahid is loved not only because of his baby-faced looks but also because he’s a sincere actor who always comes up with a fine performance. I was pleasantly surprised to see the way he pitched in a performance expected usually from superstars in Chance Pe Dance (CPD). In fact, he took the film to another level which was otherwise a meaningless flick! Before CPD, he was seen in Dil Bole Hadippa which had become the laughing stock of the town! And 3 weeks back, he again came up with an honest performance in Paathshaala. Unfortunately, the script and direction let him down and the film was simply a waste of time.

Dil Bole Hadippa, Chance Pe Dance and Paathshaala…after delivering these 3 flops, what Shahid now requires is a much needed hit! And his tomorrow’s release, Badmaash Company, might be that crucial film which can change his fortune! Being a Yash Raj Films product, Badmaash Company can turn out to be a nice surprise (like Rocket Singh) or it can be one of those Dil Bole Hadippa-type illogical flick! However, there are 2 instances that give an indication that the film might be really rocking! One, Shahid had already got involved in his father Pankaj Kapur’s directorial debut film Mausam when he was offered Badmaash Company. So much was Shahid impressed with director Parmeet Sethi’s script that he pushed forward Mausam in order to accommodate Badmaash Company! And two, Aditya Chopra was also thoroughly and pleasantly surprised with Parmeet Sethi’s directorial skills and signed a 3-film deal with him!

Of course, this doesn’t mean that the film now has no chances of disappointing but this certainly proves that Badmaash Company can turn out to be a decent entertainer and the chances for it are high! Shahid-Anushka jodi is amazing and it’s good to see Chang and funny guy Vir Das in the cast! YRF, notorious for not promoting their films well has surprisingly haven’t compromised in the promotional front of Badmaash Company. As a result, the film has created hype considerably!

Let’s hope this film turns out to be nice and gets decent number of audiences!

GURINDER CHADHA’S BACK!

Gurinder Chadha, who created a fan following after her films, Bend It Like Beckham and Bride And Prejudice is back with an interesting entertainer, It’s A Wonderful Afterlife. Starring Shabana Azmi and hottie Sendhil Ramamurthy, the film’s publicity has been very satisfactory. Promos began a month ago, a rarity when it comes to such films. The film has made everyone aware of its presence although it hasn’t excited the audiences much. Also unfortunately, the film opened to dismal houses in UK when it released there 2 weeks back although the response has been alright. The film releases in India tomorrow in English and in Hindi as well (Hai Marjawaan).

Fenil’s Bollywood Talk # 98 ../../2010/04/29/fenils-bollywood-talk-98/ ../../2010/04/29/fenils-bollywood-talk-98/#comments Thu, 29 Apr 2010 03:53:28 +0000 Fenil Seta ../../?p=9603 A LOOK AT DISASTROUS BOLLYWOOD SCENARIO DURING IPL!

Our filmmakers are of the opinion that releasing their biggie while the IPL is going on is akin to suicide! Therefore, during the entire month of March and April, there was not a single big flick that released. I personally feel such an assumption is totally wrong and I can provide instances. 2 years back, during IPL Season 1, Emraan Hashmi’s Jannat went on to become one of the biggest hits of that year, 2008. Second classic instance-2 weeks back, my brother had gone to catch the Marathi flick Lalbaug Parel (Marathi version of City Of Gold) afternoon show. The timing of the show clashed with the Mumbai Indians match on that day. And guess what, the show was completely sold out in advance! Thus, films might suffer a bit during IPL seasons but concluding that people just don’t throng to theatres during the matches is completely wrong!

Since big projects were pushed after IPL, small and medium budget filmmakers felt it was a great time to release their small films. However, this resulted in 4/5/6 films getting released each week. 90% of them were released with negligible promotion and zero hype. As a result, these films flopped miserably; most of them found it difficult to find audiences 4th day onwards. It was evident in the first 2 weeks after IPL commenced that 5-6 releases each week is suicidal. Yet, producers went ahead releasing their films with other flicks. And last Friday to hadd ho gayi! As many as 8 Hindi films hit the theatres! There films were City Of Gold, Apartment, Bird Idol, Muskurake Dekh Zara, Kuchh Kariye, Sapno Ke Desh Mein, Mumbai 118 and Crime Partner! As far as I know, something stupid like this has never happened before! And all these films were badly promoted. City Of Gold was the only flick that got decent response but even though it flopped due to zero curiosity. Rest also fell like a pack of cards.

In all, 36 Hindi films released during the IPL Season! And shockingly only 2 films succeeded-‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?’ and Love Sex Aur Dhokha! One of the reasons why both these flicks worked was because of their smart promotion strategy. Thus, time and again, it is proved that promotion is necessary and often indispensible for film’s success! But who will explain this to our filmwallahs?

WILL HOUSEFULL BRING BACK ‘HOUSE FULL’ BOARDS?

With Housefull’s release tomorrow, the season of biggies will commence! From tomorrow till August first week, get ready to watch some of the year’s exciting and interesting films! Coming back to Housefull, the film has been wonderfully promoted and has aroused hype. The star cast is excellent and the presence of Arjun Rampal in such a comic flick (a rarity!) is like an icing on the cake! Songs have been very well received. Director Sajid Khan is fully confident about the film and feels that it would definitely be one of the biggest hits of 2010! This could be a publicity gimmick though! Also what goes against the film is the fact that last time when Akshay Kumar and Sajid Nadiadwala teamed up for Kambaakht Ishq, it led to disaster! Also, barring De Dana Dan, the recent comedies of Akshay Kumar hasn’t impressed the audiences much. Hence, even though Housefull is a biggie after a long long time, the excitement isn’t skyhigh. Let’s just hope for the best!

UNETHICAL PRINT MEDIA REVEALS ‘CLIMAX’ OF KITES

Most of the moviebuffs were an angry lot last weekend when Mumbai Mirror newspaper carried an article wherein the climax of Kites was revealed. The article began interestingly as follows: “Much as we’d like to claim that we hate revealing the end of Kites, fact is that we are absolutely delighted to be the news breakers and letting out the climax (no pun intended) of the Hrithik Roshan-Barbara Mori starrer.”

Most of them I met made it a point not to read the article’s contents at all but humans being humans, they couldn’t control their curiosity and ended up reading what was written in the spoiler article. As far I am concerned, I forced myself not to look at that page but failed and glanced at the first para (mentioned above) and ended up glancing at parts of the rest of the paragraphs as well! The result: even I got the hint about Kites’ climax!

Dont blame the readers, it’s the tabloid which is to be blamed for doing something so unethical and immoral. Alright, they were the first ones to publish about it but so what? Are they getting paid for upsetting readers? And don’t they realize that such stupid gimmicks can affect the business of the film as well? Mumbai Mirror overall is really an amazing paper but it’s only the Entertainment section that is not functioning well and coming up with stupid gossip and spoilers.

It seems the Roshans were shocked when they learnt about the article. They quickly went into a damage control mode. Hrithik wrote on Twitter that the climax revealed is a fake one (and I believe him because a biggie like Kites helmed by Anurag Basu can’t have such a lame climax as mentioned in Mirror) and made it clear that he holds no grudge against Mirror and he forgives them! But his father seems to have given a scary earful to newspaper guys compelling them to publish an apology in their next day’s issue!

Hopefully, in future, all newspapers and tabloids will be careful when dealing with such issues. My only advice: Think about reader satisfaction and not the growth in sales!

P.S.: Being a responsible writer, I have made it a point not to reveal the so-called climax of Kites here. But those interested to know, DO NOT ASK OR M2M me coz I am not going to share!!

RAAVAN PROMO ROCKS!!!

When Raavan promo was unveiled last Friday, I was almost dancing! This Mani Ratnam’s film is one of my most keenly awaited films this year and has a terrific casting-Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram and none other than Govinda! The teaser, however, doesn’t show much but still it’s immensely likeable. Abhishek is awesome as the wild and ruthless villain. Each scene in the promo seems unique and stunning.

Due to some stupid problem, I am unable to post the clip on Dekhona (facing the same problem since 2 weeks). Requesting you guys to check out the promo on YouTube. DO NOT MISS IT! And let me know your views!

PRINCE WORKS AT THE BO!

I was totally tied up on Saturday and Sunday. I realized on Friday that if I need to watch Prince in the weekend itself, I would have to see an early morning show. Fortunately I got company and we went for 8am show of Prince in a nearby multiplex on Saturday. The sight that welcomed us was astonishing-there was a huge serpentine queue at the ticket window and all were there to get the tickets of Prince’ show! I stood in the queue, thinking that I have visited this multiplex several times and rarely have I seen such a long queue for any film. And today I am waiting in the line to get tickets of the early morning show and that too of a Vivek Oberoi movie! The actor has finally got his due!

Almost everyone was of the view that Prince, inspite of the fabulous promotion, would turn out to be a disaster as Vivek is a ‘flop actor’. But the producers have proved all the detractors wrong. Prince took a thunderous start everywhere. After a long time, cineplexes proudly exhibited ‘House Full’ boards outside the door! All this was possible thanks to the brilliant publicity strategy adopted by the makers, Tauranis (Tips). They have always aggressively promoted all their films and Prince was no exception. This is a lesson to all filmmakers-promote your film well and increase the curiosity surrounding it and chances of getting a decent amount of audience is greater for sure.

The only factor that still goes against Prince is its high cost. They have all the time till House Full’s release (Apr 30) to accumulate as much profit as possible. Hopefully they’ll recover their investment. Best of luck!

PAATHSHALA V/S PHOONK 2:

2 medium budget films up for release tomorrow!

PAATHSHALA: The film is ready since 2008-end but due to numerous reasons, its release got delayed. Big Pictures had acquired the film but later backed out. Finally, Eros bought the film and has managed to give it a decent release. Promotion has been almost satisfactory and songs (esp Aye Khuda) have managed to increase hype. It seems like a social flick and it should work provided it’s well made!

PHOONK 2: Phoonk took a fantastic opening thanks to dare-to-watch-alone campaign embarked by the producers. However, the film wasn’t quite liked. But still it recovered all its cost which was quite low anyway (3-4 crores). The biggest complaint was that the film didn’t scare at all! And therefore, Phoonk 2 might be at a disadvantage. It has failed to arouse the curiosity that Phoonk had aroused. It might be a Hit if it turns out to be good. Let’s see!

Which film are you interested in? Do let me know!

PRINCE V/S JKSAH!

I am waiting for Prince since a long time chiefly because of Vivek Oberoi, an actor whom I really appreciate a lot. I was also the one who was invited for promo launch of the film which took place way back in November. The producers of the film, Tips, had their flick Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani releasing just 4 days later and we were tempted with the offer of getting free audio CDs of it if we attend! Assuming that the star cast of the film and many journalists and media persons will be present, I went for it. Also just a week before this, 3 Idiots promo launch had happened which was star studded and I expected something similar here too!

I reached at the scheduled time with a friend at Pixion Studios (Bandra, Mumbai). The only known face there was of producer Kumar Taurani. Star cast was missing and even the media guys due to some reason skipped the event! Then I realized that only aam aadmis were invited! We were taken in a small preview theatre and shown the promo. Then we were given a questionnaire as to what we liked or disliked the promo. A guy then approached and video shot our reactions (CHECK THE CLIP HERE! I m the 2nd guy, the one with specks!). That’s it! We then left. No one got Ajab Prem CDs as promised; the only thing provided was water!

But still it was a great experience. The promo was rocking and the preview audi had awesome reclining seats, very superior picture quality and sound system which no multiplex offers! In fact, the critics also get to see films in such preview theatres. I had always heard about it and was longing to experience it and finally my wish got fulfilled!

So from that day my excitement for Prince increased manifold. Songs are awesome; the film looks technically brilliant and the 3 sexy sirens in the film wonderfully enhance the glamour quotient and have also increased hype. However, what goes heavily against the film is its very high cost (40 cr or 55?). Vivek is not that bankable actor to get audience throng to nearest theatres to watch his film. Besides, nowadays, even multi-starrers and biggies are finding it difficult to cross 35/40 crores. How will Tauranis recover this huge amount beats me. And if the film gets negative reports and public gives it a thumbs down, Prince will be disaster!

Nevetheless, my best wishes to Prince team including Vivek Oberoi! Chak de phatte!

The second release is Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai (JKSAH) starring the cute Aladin pair, Riteish Deshmukh and Jacqueline Fernandez. It’s an out and out romcom and has generated moderate excitement among people. It should attract some section of audiences in its opening weekend and its prospect will then depend on the response that it gets. The highpoint of the film would be special appearances by Farah Khan, Akshay Kumar, Boman Irani and Priyanka Chopra!

It’s difficult to predict which film will get a better opening, although Prince might have an upper hand. Which film are you interested in? Do let me know!

APARNA SEN’S DELAYED FILM TO RELEASE TOMORROW

After wowing one and all with 15 Park Avenue, director Aparna Sen is back with The Japanese Wife (TJW) that is releasing tomorrow. Starring Rahul Bose, Raima Sen and Japanese actor Chigasu Takaku, TJW was shot long back and was in cans since a long time. The premise of the film is interesting-it’s a story about a man and woman who haven’t met each other ever but get married through letters and remain faithful to each other despite not even seen each other’s face! Unfortunately, like all recent releases, the film is arriving sans promotion. Hence, the film will be a commercial disaster although it might earns accoloades from critics. Sad enough!

‘HYPELESS’ FILMS THIS WEEKEND!

Like many other actors, its Arshad Warsi now who has donned the producer’s hat. The first film under his banner is Hum Tum Aur Ghost (HTAG) starring Arshad himself, Dia Mirza and Boman Irani as the ghost. It is directed by Kabeer Kaushik whose Sehar was much appreciated. The chances of a box office success for HTAG seem practically nil as the film’s promotion hasn’t been upto the mark. Its promos have failed to create curiosity. Although the film might turn out to be good, chances are that it will be a box-office disaster.

Coincidentally, all badly promoted and ‘hypeless’ films are hitting theatres tomorrow. Well Done Abba (WDA) might turn out to be excellent but again it has failed on the promotion front. Starring Minissha Lamba and Boman Irani in lead roles, WDA might turn out to be as funny as impressive as Shyam Benegal’s last offing Welcome To Sajjanpur which was also a rural comedy. Let’s hope the film works inspite of the negligible publicity.

Besides, there’s Mittal v/s Mittal focusing on marital rape while Prem Kaa Game based on extra marital affairs releasing. My Friend Ganesha 3, a kiddie film, is releasing tomorrow at a time when school exams are going on throughout the country. Also, My Friend Ganesha 2 was a big-time box office disaster and yet its makers came up with the 3rd part. This is probably the first sequel of a superflop film!

From these 5, only Well Done Abba looks great and most probably, I’ll be watching it. Which film are you interested in? Do let me know!

AB CORP’S MARATHI FILM RELEASED!

Recently, Amitabh Bachchan and family have received a lot of flak that Bachchan is more inclined towards his native state (Uttar Pradesh) than Maharashtra, where he tasted success. In the midst of all this, AB Corp, Bachchan’s production house, silently produced a Marathi film, Vihir, which has toured several film festivals and released in theatres last week. Critics might say that Bachchan did this to show off or silence his detractors. However, that is totally untrue as if that was the case, Big B would had been all out in the media or shouting from the rooftops about this film and making ‘See-I-made-a-Marathi-film’ statements so that people (especially ones outside Maharashtra) come to know about it. However, Bachchans haven’t done anything of that sort and are letting the film grow on its merit. The film has won acclaim in international film festivals of Berlin, Rotterdam, Pusan, Kerela and Pune. Currently, it is running successfully in Maharashtra.

With Vihir, BigB has ably proved his love for the state and language. The politicians should now think many times before targeting him! Way to go Bachchans!

AVATAR COMPLETES 100 DAYS TOMORROW!

The costliest film ever, Avatar, will complete 100 days tomorrow! This is the first Hollywood film after a long time to have run for so many days in theatres in India. Even 2012 vanished after around 10 weeks. Avatar was loved by almost all and kept attracting people even though other interesting films released in the following weeks. Hearty congratulations to the Avatar team!

THREE INTERESTING FILMS THIS WEEKEND!

Tomorrow, three small-budget but very interesting films are all set to hit the screens. My take:

LOVE SEX AUR DHOKHA: The film has a title which more than half of the population would hesitate mentioning! Thankfully, to make things easier, the makers of the film has emphasized more on the abbreviation of the title-LSD! India’s first digital film, LSD is based on a voyeurism and from the promos it seems to be a truly path-breaking film. The film has no famous actor at all and yet the film has scored because of its title, theme and promos. Also it is directed by Dibakar Banerjee who has impressed many by his last 2 films-Khosla Ka Ghosla and ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’. However, LSD is a completely new territory and there are high chances that the makers might not come with a film that meets the expectations. Let’s hope for the best!

SHAAPIT: Vikram Bhatt is back after the successful 1920 with another horror flick, Shaapit. It marks the acting debut of Aditya Narayan and also television actress Shweta Agarwal. Promotion could have been better but still the film has made many curious. Also it has Aditya who has a considerable fan following. Like for every other film, Shaapit needs to be well-made to get box office success. 1920 also had newcomers and it clicked wonderfully with the audience and was a hit too. And the same is expected from Shaapit too. It would definitely get the best opening out of the three!

LAHORE: This flick would definitely get the poorest opening but has high chances of being much better than the above 2 films! Surprisingly, Lahore gives a message on peace through the medium of a violent game, kickboxing! The film marks the debut of Aanaahad, who went for rigorous kickboxing training in China for 6 months for this role. Also Lahore gives viewers probably the last chance to see deceased Nirmal Pandey in theatres! The film is backed by Warner Bros and has toured numerous film festivals and has won many awards and nominations. Those not interested in LSD and Shaapit should try for Lahore!

Cyrus Broacha Memorial Award-CYRUS BROACHA

My personal favourite category is ‘Baawra Ho Gaya Hai Ke’ Award which was presented to Sylvester and Denise! However, the Bas Kijiye Bahut Ho Gaya should not have been given to Madhur Bhandarkar. There are so many out there who deserve it badly!! Another funny thing is that Cyrus Broacha Memorial Award was given away to Cyrus himself! In his acceptance speech, he said, “It’s great. I’m thrilled. I hope to win this award every year”! Obviously, none of the film starring Cyrus featured in the awards (although one might argue that his disastrous flick Fruit N Nut should have got some award!).

Golden Kela Awards were launched last year by Random Magazine. The nominees were shortlisted by its editorial board and the winners were selected by a public poll. Needless to say, none of the winners were present in the event to take away the prized trophies!

Did you like the idea of Golden Kela Awards? Satisfied with the winners’ list? Do let me know!

Fenil’s Bollywood Talk # 91 ../../2010/03/11/fenils-bollywood-talk-91/ ../../2010/03/11/fenils-bollywood-talk-91/#comments Thu, 11 Mar 2010 03:23:41 +0000 Fenil Seta ../../?p=7929 WHY BACHCHANS SKIPPED FILMFARE

The 55th Idea Filmfare Awards, which was telecasted on Sunday, turned out to be a below expectations affair for most of the viewers. Majority felt that the spark which is there every year was missing this time, inspite that Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan were the hosts. Personally speaking, I found it interesting although I agree it could have been better. The highpoints of the evening were Shashi Kapoor and Khayyam getting Lifetime Achievement Award, Deepika and Shahid’s performance and SRK-Saif insulted by Hrithik, Vidya Balan and especially Neil Nitin Mukesh!

However, when practically the entire industry was present at the Awards, the absence of one superstar raised many eyebrows. No, I am not talking about Aamir Khan here! I am referring to Amitabh Bachchan and his family who decided to skip the Filmfare Awards this year! Reason is interesting-they were hugely upset by an article published in Mumbai Mirror newspaper (owned by Times Group, sponsors of Filmfare) dated February 18, 2010 which stated that Big B’s bahu Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has put her pregnancy plans on the backburner as she’s suffering from stomach tuberculosis. The report went on to say that the fact that Aishwarya didn’t got pregnant even after completing 33 months of marriage has been a cause of concern for the Bachchan family! Read the complete article here!

Now the stomach TB part of the article might be correct but all this Ash delaying her pregnancy plans was rubbish. Ash angrily wrote the following to Mirror, “I am completely shocked, appalled and extremely upset with the contents of the article. I completely deny the report. It is fabricated and false. It is very disappointing that your office did not even bother to verify this article with me, my family, my spokesperson or my office. I would think it only ethical and correct to get the person in question’s side of the story or verification before printing such news” Interestingly, the next day’s issue of Mirror carried this angry reaction of Ash!

Everybody thought the matter ended here. But then Amitabh wrote on his blog that he was deeply anguished with the contents of that article. His remark “If anyone will speak derogatorily about her, I shall fight for her till my last breath” gave an indication that Big B would surely not take things lying down. He, therefore, along with his entire family, decided to skip Filmfare Awards and according to some websites, they might take legal action too. Although someone from Mirror apologized but it did not soothe Big B. He wrote, “Despite a few personal apologies from management and owners, no public apology has taken place. You cannot abuse me in public and then come and say sorry to me in private.”

Some might feel that the Bachchans has overreacted as all this is a part and parcel of stardom. However, I applaud them for taking action against such rumour mills and feel they are absolutely justified. These gossip mongers have many times crossed their lines to get an ‘exclusive story’. It was necessary that somewhere someone stops them or at least give them some sense.

Hopefully, with this incident, Mirror, Mid-Day and other rumour mongers will think twice before printing any stupid story about any celeb!

KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI’S ANIMATED VERSION TO RELEASE THIS YEAR!

Almost everyone who had seen Kuch Kuch Hota Hai fell in love with it. Now get ready to fall with it all over again as the film’s animated version Koochie Koochie Hota Hai is all set to hit the theatres this year!

The promo of the film was released during the release of My Name Is Khan last month. It seems the film’s basic plot remains the same. The big change is that the main characters are dogs and not humans! Voiceovers have been done by Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukherji, Riteish Deshmukh, Simi Gasrewal, Anupam Kher, Uday Chopra, Sajid Khan and….Sanjay Dutt! The film is directed by Tarun Mansukhani, who made Dostana.

I just the hope the film doesn’t repeat the mistakes committed by makers of Roadside Romeo and manage to promote it well and give it an appropriate release. THE PROMO OF THE FILM IS UPLOADED BELOW…DO CHECK AND LET ME KNOW YOUR VIEWS!
