Eager to work in a full fledged masala entertainer, the actor has given his nod to the film that has been tentatively titled Phata Poster Nikla Hero

Shahid Kapoor seems to have come out of a long cold purdah of self proclaimed joblessness. And how! After signing Maneesh Sharma’s (of Band Bajaa Baraat fame) next with Yash Raj Films, the actor has now bagged the lead role in Rajkumar Santoshi’s upcoming venture.

Interestingly, Santoshi too, was without a project for a really long time. After Ladies And Gentleman failed to materialise, good friend Anil Kapoor had asked him to mentor the team of writers for his Desi version of the American television series 24. But finally, the filmmaker seems to have launched a project of his own.

The film, tentatively titled Phata Poster Nikla Hero, is about a young boy who wants to be a superstar despite his mother’s protestations. It will be produced by Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Films.

A source close to the project confirmed the news and told Mirror, “Shahid wanted to do a full fledged commercial film for a very long time. He had already committed himself to Tips for their next venture. He had told them that whenever a suitable script falls in place, he would green light the project. So, Taurani arranged a meeting wherein Raj Kumar narrated the script to Shahid. The actor immediately loved it and gave his nod of approval.”

The source also revealed that Sonakshi Sinha is being considered for the female lead. “Tips is in talks with the actress,” he told us.
The film is likely to go on floors by the end of the year after Shahid finishes with his YRF venture. Raj Kumar Santoshi remained unavailable for comment.
