Kunal Kohli and Prasoon Joshi bring the audience yet another winning album in Teri Meri Kahaani
BOMBAY TIMES (June 7, 2012)
They are now seen as a winning team. Director Kunal Kohli and lyricist Prasoon Joshi who created magic with the songs of Hum Tum and Fanaa are back again with a mellifluous, soulful yet catchy album for their latest love saga Teri Meri Kahaani.
Within days of its release, the music of TMK has climbed to the top of the charts; getting an ecstatic Kunal to remark, “Yes, Prasoon and I did it again.’’ In fact, co-producer Eros International (Kunal Kohli Productions is the other producer) were happy with the tracks — Mukhtasar Mulakat Hai, Jabse Mere Dil Ko Uff, Humse Pyaar Kar Le To and Allah Jaane have excellent lyric quality and are great compositions by Sajid- Wajid.’’
Kunal admits that when Prasoon and he sit down to write, their objective is simple. “We want to live forever through our songs,” he says. “I always tell Prasoon, ‘Sir aap ke, hamaare marne ke baad bhi, hamaare gaane amar rehne chahiye.’ Even 50 years after Raj Kapoor; the music of his films are immortal. All filmmakers want immortality — for their movies, for their songs. Even we crave that.”
Prasoon, whose strength as a lyricist lies in the fact that he turns words and catchphrases like Masti Ki Paathshaala and Mukhtasar Mulakat into a craze, says, “I’m very sensitive to sound and for me, a word has to conjure up an image in my mind. So I look for an apt word to describe an emotion. For example I love the words Mukhtasar Mulakat. It adds weight and dignity to a meeting that is incomplete, short and yet meaningful…’’
The film releases June 22.
