Is Bachchan taking on SRK and Hrithik through his film?

Upala KBR (BOMBAY TIMES; June 7, 2011)

The teaser trailer of Amitabh Bachchan’s Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap is being talked about across various discussion forums. What has sparked off the reactions is the actor’s bold dialogue, funky attire and action sequences. The entire campaign so far, has used references from his cult films like Deewar, Agneepath, Hum etc. to recreate his angry young man days…

The latest promo drives the Bachchan bravado up a notch with him openly challenging his younger contemporaries! Opening with the line ‘Tum saale aajkal ke bachche log…’, AB seems to be reiterating his position in the industry. Is this line aimed at SRK (who remade Don and is now working on a sequel) or Hrithik Roshan who is currently working on remaking Agneepath, one of Bachchan’s most memorable roles as Vijay Deenanath Chauhan? For those who thought that AB has become too ‘Bbuddah’ for such things, we can only wait and watch as he ups the ante.

When Big B was in tears…

Prithwish Ganguly (BOMBAY TIMES; June 7, 2011)

Kolkata-based Piku Verma’s only dream in life was to meet her idol Amitabh Bachchan. That dream came true for the physically handicapped girl thanks to her uncle (Mahesh), who got the necessary permissions from Prakash Jha so she could spend time with Big B. An informer reveals, “Mr Bachchan along with the unit was gearing up for an intense shot when Piku came by. He just asked us to give him some time off. He didn’t want her to wait in the summer heat and spent a good 20 minutes with her. The girl got emotional and cried. The star was so moved that he had tears in his eyes too.” BT spoke to Piku who narrated the heart-warming experience. “Meeting Mr Bachchan had been my only dream right from my childhood. Thanks to my uncle and Mr Prakash Jha, it became possible for me to meet him.”
