Kunal Kapoor was caught climbing into someone’s house using a pipeline
Though Hindi films, Dharmendra in particular, make it seem like cakewalk, climbing vertical sewage pipelines isn’t all that easy. As for the upwardly mobile actor (pun intended) Kunal Kapoor, the stint turned out to be rather ugly. Last week, Kunal was caught climbing the water pipeline of a building in his neighbourhood, in the wee hours of the night.
Says an eyewitness, “Kunal wanted to jump into his neighbour Nimesh’s house through a window. Nimesh stays on the third floor. But before Kunal could reach there, the building’s watchman spotted him climbing the pipe and ordered him to come down immediately.”
Apparently, Kunal and Nimesh are friends. On the fated night, Kunal had decided to play a prank on Nimesh. The plan was that Kunal would climb into Nimesh’s house and would then let the rest of his friends in. They would then rearrange all the furniture in the living room and leave, so Nimesh would get the shock of his life on waking up the next morning.
Clearly, planning isn’t Kunal’s forte. Kunal and his friends got easy access into the building. Nimesh was apparently fast asleep when Kunal started climbing the building, with a few other friends muttering occasional words of support. Destiny had other plans though. “The watchman happened to pass by and spotted Kunal climbing the pipe.
The watchman did not recognise him (Kunal, try a clean-shaven look the next time) as the light was very dim and immediately raised an alarm. Kunal came down as fast as he could, but by then; a few residents from the building were already witnessing the commotion,” said the witness.
Despite a text message, Kunal did not revert with any comment. However, his spokesperson did confirm the incident.
Non-stop overnight shoots in Spain are taking a serious toll on Katrina Kaif’s health
This paper recently reported that Katrina Kaif sprained her neck while shooting in Spain, for Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara. Far from soaking up the Spanish sun, the actress is actually roughing it out there. Added to this, Katrina doesn’t want to discuss her woes with anyone anymore.
She wants to bottle it all up because she thinks that her sob stories are creating an impression that she’s a crybaby.
Implores Katrina, “Please don’t write stories about my problems. People have started to think I’m cooking them up for sympathy.”
But the latest developments in Spain (sorry Katrina) have truly been unfair on the poor girl. Director Zoya Akhtar has been shooting with Hrithik Roshan, Kalki Koechlin, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol and Katrina, enjoying the uninhibited and colourful nightlife of Spain.
While the boys are actually partying hard and having the time of their lives, the girls who have to pretend to be as bold and vivacious on camera as their male counterparts, are often left groggy, under-slept and exhausted. This all-night revelry has been especially hard on Katrina. An early sleeper, she has been trying doubly hard to not lag behind but her body clock has gone for a toss. That Katrina flew out of Spain in this interim for two days to shoot a commercial in Abu Dhabi and returned to resume shooting, actually appalls you.
Apparently the hectic and noisy night shoots, which have been continuing non-stop, are taking a serious toll on Katrina’s health. She feels sapped out all the time. Says the actress, “I really don’t want to sound like a whining baby. But yes we’ve been shooting from 4 pm to 6 am every day here in Spain for Zoya’s film. It isn’t easy.”
Give her a break guys. She was hospitalised last year for being overworked.
Following a recent controversy and a near hit-and-run incident, Ekta Kapoor beefs up her personal security to two armed gunmen and four bodyguards
She may be the queen of small screen soaps and a feared one at that, but Ekta Kapoor no longer feels safe in this city. Following the incident, which Mumbai Mirror reported on June 14, where Ekta was almost run over by a car while she was jogging on the road along Juhu beach, she has decided to increase her own security.
Earlier, three bodyguards used to accompany Ekta wherever she went. These men were never armed though. But now, four bodyguards and two gunmen track every step Ekta takes and follow her wherever she goes. A source close to Ekta says, “She has six people close to her to ensure that she is well protected. Moreover, there is a car that follows her. This car always has a few more people who have been especially hired to protect her.”
Ekta beefed up her security at her mother Shobha Kapoor’s insistence. Her father Jeetendra too was extremely worried after the jogging incident. So agitated was he post the incident, that he had reprimanded the cops at Juhu police station for having taken no action in the near hit-and-run complaint lodged by his daughter.
Obviously, his daughter’s account of the driver’s abrasive behaviour had got Jeetendra even more worried. Apparently, the man behind the wheels had allegedly gotten off the car and screamed at Ekta saying, “Aapko footpath pe chalna nahin aata kya? (Don’t you know how to walk on the footpath?)”
There is another reason why the Kapoor family has been worried of late. Haji Mastan’s adopted son Sundar Shekhar Mirza recently sent a legal notice to Balaji Telefilms saying that the Kapoors did not take their consent before making Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai. The story of the film is supposedly based on the life of Mirza’s late father.
“The family wants to take no chances,” says the source, “Shobhaji told Ekta that she must have more people around her who can ensure that no untoward incidents happen to her. Ekta could not argue with her mother and had to obey.”
When contacted, Ekta did not deny the story. She simply said, “It’s a very personal matter. I don’t want to discuss this.”
Riffing with Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor as well as the director of their upcoming film ‘I Hate Luv Storys’, Punit Malhotra
|This is how we do it: (From left) Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor and Punit Malhotra|
Looks like Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor and Punit Malhotra had a great time working on ‘I Hate Luv Storys’. Here’s how well-bonded the three are!
Lip gloss? Gross!
Imran: It’s pretty gross to wear make-up. But it’s a standard part of the thing. I don’t wear any lip gloss, though. My lips are too pink already. People tell me, ‘Why were you wearing so much lip gloss in that film?’ I never did!
Fending off the boys
Sonam: He’s so rude (Punit)! They’re both rude. And they’re both bullies, trying to bully me all the time, but I don’t let them do it. I grew up with four brothers, so I’m thick skinned. I’m used to it!
So he’s trying to needle you all the time?
Sonam: Yes, he needles me all the time. It’s like school. Boys have a crush on you, and so they tease you all the time.
Punit: You think any one will have a crush on you when you dress like that?
What’s wrong with the way she dresses? Do you want to give us a point by point criticism of her dress?
Punit: I can totally do it. But I’ll get butchered later.
Punit: We have always been like this, even while shooting.
Did you guys include jokes from your own lives?
Punit: I did, but I had to write it, so obviously I would. But I guess everybody did. Imran’s character in the film is like that of an obnoxious friend. When he first came to me, he said, “I know what this character is.’ You always have this one friend na, who’s this obnoxious guy. So Imran said, ‘this is that guy.’ I asked him, ‘so you know someone like that?’ But he didn’t name him! I have a friend who’s like that, whom you just don’t want anyone to meet. ’Coz when you’re thinking he’s really getting along with someone, it’s the opposite. He’d say the rudest thing ever, he’d be making fun of you and you wouldn’t realise it. You’d just get a rude shock later.
But Imran says that about you!
Punit: See, I told you na, we’re always like this. I’ll set him straight.
No dipping in office ink
You’ve also said Imran’s a big flirt!
Punit: No, he is very committed. Avantika was anyways there with us, so he was well behaved. I wasn’t well behaved. Never been, don’t intend to.
So, were you flirting with half the unit?
Punit: Not the unit. You don’t dip your pen in office ink! It was always outside. But rubbish still spreads. But what helped was all of us bonded as friends.
Boney Kapoor is hoping his new film will encourage people to be forgiving
Deepali Dhingra I TNN (BOMBAY TIMES; June 30, 2010)
How many times have you wanted to pick up the phone and call your ex to say Whoever said that to err is human — but to forgive is divine, certainly knew what he was talking about!
Boney is a great romantist. And this is how his application works. It has a forgiveness index meter and a photo frame with a white rose that users can send to the person they want to forgive. The photograph is of Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor from Milenge Milenge which can be replaced by one of the user’s photographs. In a parallel promotion, attractive young girls will offer white artificial roses to people at select multiplexes and malls to gift to anybody they hold a grudge against. The rose will have replaceable dangler photographs of Kareena and Shahid that can be kept on desktops as a memento. Its base says ‘A Time to Forgive’ on one side and ‘Milenge Milenge’ on the other. Ironically, the lead couple of the film, one time sweethearts, have moved on in their lives and careers may not personally care about forgiving and forgetting the past. But Boney is optimistic. “The thought was triggered by the Ambani brothers Mukesh and Anil burying the hatchet,” says the filmmaker enthusiastically.
“Relationships are built over the years but even the closest can fall apart because of small misunderstandings. Why not, in retrospect, remember the good times, get over the grudge, and forgive the person we are mad with?” Why not, indeed!

Nagesh Kukunoor will heave a sigh of relief. And so will John Abraham. Their first outing together, AASHAYEIN, which was completed a few years ago but didn’t make it to theatres for reasons best known to its makers, will finally release on 13th August. Both Nagesh and John are gung ho about AASHAYEIN and are keenly awaiting its release. In fact, Nagesh had gone on record to state that AASHAYEIN was amongst his most accomplished works, with John delivering his career-best performance in the film.
While the release date of AASHAYEIN was announced and called off several times in the past, it seems that its release seems certain now. Big Pictures is releasing the film.

Is Saif Ali Khan reprising the role of a suave politician in Madhur Bhandarkar’s new movie HEROINE, which, it is rumoured, is based on the life of an American actress? Well, that’s the speculation in the industry. “I wish to clarify that HEROINE is not based on the life and times of Marilyn Monroe or any actress. It’s a contemporary film. Also, neither have I approached Saif for any role in the film, nor is there any role in my film that could remind anyone of a legendary politician,” Madhur states. He continues, “Of course, there are several characters in the film, but the story revolves around Kareena. I’ve yet to finalize the balance star cast.”
While Madhur begins filming HEROINE in October, the prolific film-maker will start shooting DIL TO BACHCHA HAI JI with Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Omi Vaidya and Shruti Haasan in July. He plans to wrap the entire shoot by August.
The actress is very upset because the promos of Boney Kapoor’s Milenge Milenge seem to suggest that she’s back on track with Shahid Kapoor
Bebo is angry. And Boney Kapoor’s film Milenge Milenge is to blame. The film is finally releasing and the promos are on in full swing. But Kareena, the leading lady of the film, is upset about Boney Kapoor using the line `They are back together’ in the promos.
It is obvious that Kareena wants to stay as far away from her ex-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor as possible. Hence, something that merely suggests that she and Shahid were once together, has miffed her.
Kareena is also feeling cheated because she went out of her way to help Boney Kapoor finish the film. Our source says, “Kareena and Shahid broke up long ago and the film was stuck for various reasons. Before Boney decided to release the film, Kareena had to help him by completing the leftover dubbing. She also did a photo shoot for the promotion of the film so it does not look dated.
Shahid, on his part, shot for a music video. But Kareena was shocked when she saw the promos that read `They are back together’, as though reiterating the fact that they broke up and have now patched up.
|The credit card that got Kareena’s goat|
Kareena told a couple of friends that it was not fair that despite helping Boney complete the film and facilitating its release, he did this. She is pretty upset about it.”
Kareena remained unavailable for comment. However, when contacted, Boney Kapoor said, “There are all kinds of rumours floating about and there is no truth to this. Kareena even did a photo shoot with us and she has not said anything to me about being upset.”
The actress is ready and training hard, but none of the 13 contestants for Fear Factor have been finalised
The upcoming season of Khatron Ke Khiladi is jinxed. Hostess Priyanka Chopra’s shooting dates have been fixed for the 2nd and 3rd week of August. And Priyanka has been diligently preparing in Brazil for her daredevil anchor role for months.
Apparently, the contestants are still not finalised. After the BCCI came down heavily on our cricketers post the IPL debacle, 13 of them opted out of Fear Factor.
The team has to now rely on hunks from other fields. Only after Priyanka approves of them that is.
But this too has failed. The actors and models don’t want to participate in the show. Did the tough stunts of the last season dampen their spirits or did Akshay’s bordering on ruthless demeanor scare them?
Kushal Punjabi, Sonu Sood, Kunal Khemu, Arjan Bajwa, Purab Kohli and Aarya Babbar have all declined the offer, while the ones still being cajoled are Dino Morea, Emraan Hashmi, Himesh Reshammiya, Abhishek Kapoor, Brett Lee and Marc Robinson.
Says a source from the channel, “We’ve so far locked in only Rahul Bose and Milind Soman and that too after much haggling. The rest of the slots are open.” The team is panicking now.
|Rahul Bose||Milind Soman|
The source laments, “Priyanka’s dates will slip out of our hands if we don’t shoot with her in August because after her two-week stint in Brazil, she heads to shoot for Don 2. Besides, we are supposed to go on air in September.”
Priyanka seems oddly unaffected though. “I’ve been training really hard and I’m all set. I’ve no clue about the contestants. That’s the channels look out,” she says.Is there a workable solution then?
Says the channel source, “We’ll have to up the contestants’ fee, as we did for Bigg Boss. Many of the people we’ve approached are asking for unreasonable fee.” The channel admits getting celebrities on this show is getting tough. Colors’ CEO Rajesh Kamat is optimistic though, “By the first week of July we hope to have our contestants in place.” Fingers crossed.
His role in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj promises to be as compelling as the historical figure was
Though the project is completely under wraps right now, the casting of Sanjay Dutt as the majestic Maratha warrior in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is certain. At the moment, no one is talking on record about it, as they feel Dutt’s current assignments and his legal hassles would need a year to be sorted out.
A source close to the project says, “We can’t see anyone except Sanjay Dutt as the brave and flamboyant Maratha warrior, galloping across the screen, sword in hand. We want someone who comes close to Russell Crowe’s character in Gladiator or Robin Hood.”
The director of the film, Soham Shah however, refuses to admit that Dutt is the first and the last choice for the role of Shivaji. “All I would say at the moment is, I can never make a film without Sanjay Dutt. He’s my mentor, guru, guide and support. If in spite of Kaal and Luck I’m still directing a project as big as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, it’s because of the trust and support of Mr Dutt. At the moment, I’m getting ready to direct a film for Sanjay Dutt Productions. Then I’ll start work on the Shivaji project.”
Soham calls it his dream project, one that he has been working on for over a year now. “I want to make the film in a way that would appeal to viewers between the age of 8 and 80. In terms of special effects, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj would be on the lines of Prince Of Persia.” At the moment, the project is supposedly in Hindi. But Soham and his producers are exploring the options of making it a Hindi-Marathi bilingual.
