Her paternal grandmother passes away; the actress rushes from sets of Saat Khoon Maaf in Coorg to Delhi

Sunday evening, while Priyanka Chopra was busy shooting in Coorg for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Saat Khoon Maaf, she was informed that her paternal grandmother is no more. Nobody on the sets would’ve known about Priyanka’s bereavement if she did not have to reach Delhi, where her grandmother breathed her last, in time for the last rites.

A close friend of Priyanka says, “Priyanka is like that. She never allows her personal  problems to affect her work. Even when  she learnt of her father’s illness (liver cancer) two  years ago, she did not let anyone know about her grief on the sets of Rohan Sippy’s Bluffmaster!.”

However, circumstances were different this time. Priyanka had to inform Bhardwaj about her grandmother’s death as she had to immediately join her family in Delhi. The thought of disrupting the tight schedule really disturbed her, but Bhardwaj assured her they’d wait for her, no matter how long it took.

The friend adds, “Since there was no flight out from Coorg, Priyanka had to first drive to Bangalore and then catch a flight to Delhi.”

Too grief stricken to talk, Priyanka told a close friend, “It’s so strange. The entire family had gathered together in Delhi a  month ago when I got the National award. That had made my grandmother so happy. Little did we know it was the last time I’d get to see her.”
